Competition
The Society funded two competitions in 2015 for projects that supported the aims of the society using the following guidelines:
John Hamlett produced a video that comprises of interviews with elderly Kirkby Lonsdale residents recounting some of their past memories about the town. The funding enabled him to expand the interviews and enhance the project by purchasing relevant archive material.
The second award funded an interpretation plaque recording the history of some of the vicarage's previous occupants including Margaret Llewellyn Davies. The panel is now in place in the church yard and there was an official unveiling of the plaque on Tuesday 21st February 2017. This was performed by her great, great niece Jane Wynne-Willson who was accompanied by her daughters Emma Dogliani and Ruth Wilson.
- Proposals were from any individual or organisation based in the Rainbow Parish, and not be for personal gain
- The Committee was particularly interested in ideas that were innovative, and was keen to encourage suggestions from people of all age
- If selected by the Committee, funding was to be allocated for the execution of one or more projects
- Proposed projects were to be stand-alone with clear commencement and completion boundaries, although may have formed a ‘building block’ of a larger project
- The total funding available was up to £5,000
